With academic credentials from prestigious institutions and extensive leadership experience, the BIMUN team is committed to delivering effective and efficient management. Each member plays a vital role in ensuring seamless operations.

Samuel Chiemela is a distinguished ambassador of Model United Nations in Nigeria celebrated for his steadfast dedication to advancing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with an emphasis on Quality Education (SDG 4). As the visionary Founder of the Babcock International Model United Nations (BIMUN), established in 2016, he served as Executive Director for eight transformative years before transitioning to Founder and Chief Operations Officer in 2024. Under his strategic leadership, BIMUN has emerged as a preeminent forum for fostering critical global discourse, engaging participants from across Africa and beyond.
A catalyst for impactful change, Samuel has orchestrated pioneering initiatives through BIMUN, including educational programs in Plateau State, Nigeria, which empowered students from 23 secondary schools through debates, quizzes, and spelling bees to advance SDG 4. His humanitarian leadership shone in December 2018, when he directed relief efforts for 3,570 displaced individuals at the Durumi Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Abuja. Further exemplifying his commitment to community welfare, he collaborated with the Ben Carson School of Medicine in March 2019 to distribute eyeglasses, mosquito nets, and essential supplies in Ijebu Ode.
With a prolific presence in global diplomacy, Samuel has contributed to over 75 Model UN conferences worldwide, cultivating the skills of 14,000+ youths, mentoring 300+ officials, and guiding 20+ institutions in launching their own MUN programs. His mentorship extends beyond conferences, shaping emerging leaders across diverse fields and solidifying his legacy as a transformative force in youth advocacy.
Championing gender equity, he spearheaded initiatives from 2021 to 2022 that delivered support systems to 800+ women and girls affected by violence in Ogun State. In July 2023, his commitment to inclusivity culminated in a landmark partnership between BIMUN and Chess in Slums Africa, securing full sponsorships for five underserved youths to attend the prestigious BIMUN conference.
Academically, Samuel holds a Bachelor’s degree in History and International Studies from Babcock University, a Master’s degree in Political Science and Defence Studies from the Nigeria Defence Academy, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from Babcock University. He is also a licensed educator with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
With over eight years of experience in project management, Samuel’s career is driven by a deep passion for creating impactful change through diplomatic engagement and education. His strong leadership and organizational skills are complemented by a profound sense of compassion and understanding. Beyond his professional endeavors, Samuel is a devoted husband and an ardent supporter of Arsenal Football Club.
In his leisure time, he enjoys reading, swimming, traveling, and expanding his network of global changemakers. Samuel’s life mission is clear: to elevate others through meaningful service, focusing on delivering practical, logical solutions to societal challenges.
Itoro Victor-Akpan is a London-based Youth Development Leader and international engagement practitioner working at the intersection of grassroots practice, Commonwealth engagement, and global climate policy. With a deep commitment to ensuring that young people’s voices meaningfully shape the decisions that affect their futures, she has spent over a decade building platforms for youth diplomacy, civic engagement, and policy participation across Africa and beyond.
As Executive Director of the BIMUN Development Organization, Itoro leads the strategic vision. She previously served the organisation as Executive Secretary and Head of Sponsorship and Partnerships, bringing nearly a decade of institutional knowledge and relationship-building to her current role.
Beyond BIMUN, Itoro is an Associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society, a Selected Member of the Common Futures Conversations Community at Chatham House, a member of the Youth Practitioners’ Advisory Board at the Mayor of London’s Violence Reduction Unit, a member of the Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE) Working Group under YOUNGO at the UNFCCC, and a member of the Climate Action Working Group at the Children and Youth Major Group to UNEP (CYMG). Itoro holds an MA in International Studies and Diplomacy from SOAS University of London and has recently completed an in-person course on Climate Change at the Oxford School of Climate Change, Jesus College, University of Oxford.
